Sealing principle of floating ball valve

There are two seat sealing rings in the valve body of the floating ball valve. A sphere is clamped between them. There are through holes in the sphere. The diameter of through holes is equal to the inner diameter of the pipeline. It is called full-diameter ball valve. The diameter of through hole is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of pipeline, which is called shrinkage ball valve. The sphere can rotate freely in the seat seal ring by means of the stem. When it opens, the spherical hole is aligned with the pipeline aperture to ensure that the working medium resistance of the pipeline is minimum. When the stem rotates 1/4 circle, the ball hole is perpendicular to the passage of the valve, and the ball is tightly pressed on the seat seal ring at the outlet by pre-tightening force and medium pressure on the two seat seals, thus ensuring the complete sealing of the valve. The ball valve is one-sided forced seal.

Floating ball valve should also focus on whether its seat material can withstand the load of the ball, because the ball also bears the full load of the working medium in addition to its own weight and passes it to the seat. In addition, according to ball valve floating type, consideration should also be given to the need for greater force in operation of large-caliber floating ball valves.
